The Janette Cardigan is knitted from top to bottom in stockinette stitch. It starts with the back. The back is worked back and forth in rows, with short rows to shape the neckline and shoulder slants, and with increases and decreases for the armholes. Next, stitches are picked up to knit the left and right front pieces individually, creating the round neckline through increases. Once all pieces are finished, stitches are cast on for the armholes, and all pieces are joined to continue knitting the body in one piece. The piece finishes with a ribbed hem. Then, stitches are picked up along the armholes to knit the sleeves in the round. For the front bands, stitches are also picked up and worked in double knitting. Finally, stitches are picked up along the neckline to knit the collar in 1x1 rib, then folded inwards and fastened.

The knitting kit contains an alternative to the yarn specified in the pattern

original yarn.

Size Guide: The Janette Cardigan has a wide fit (oversized) and is designed with approx. 13–20 cm positive ease; slightly reduced for larger sizes to ensure a more balanced and comfortable fit. This means that the garment measurements will be approx. 13–20 cm larger than your actual bust circumference.

Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed for a bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm.

Gauge:

After washing and blocking:
19 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch with needle size 4.5 mm.
44 sts x 56 rows = 10 x 10 cm in double knitting with needle size 3.5 mm. The stated gauge refers to both layers of the double knitting. The visible number of stitches and rows for each layer is half of the stated number = 22 sts x 28 rows.

If you want to knit in a larger size, you can order additional balls of yarn separately.

You can then simply return any unused balls of yarn to us.

For this set, you will need the following accessories:

Circular needles:
4.5 mm, 40 and 80 or 100 cm.
4 mm, 80 or 100 cm.
3.5 mm, 80 (optional) and 100 cm.

Double-pointed needles: 4 mm or long circular needle for the Magic Loop method.
