In 1860, Theodor Lang acquired the Unterwassermühle (underwater mill) in Reiden. On the mill's land, he established one of the first industrial enterprises in the Wigger Valley: a mechanical cotton spinning mill. The Wigger River provided the necessary energy to operate the machinery. Pure Mako cotton yarns up to a fineness of Ne 30 were spun. Even at that time, the yarn was exported to Germany and France.
SHEEP FRIENDLY - NO MULESING
Since 2018, merino wool that is mulesing-free has been awarded the logo «SHEEP FRIENDLY – NO MULESING».
The yarns used are either merino fibers from certified Australian production or from other origins (primarily South Africa or South America), where flystrike is not a problem. Fibers made from mulesing-free wool command a higher price on the global market. LANGYARNS offers added value through its humane treatment of the sheep.
