The balloon sweater has balloon sleeves that begin well below the shoulders, thus emphasizing the close-fitting cuffs at the wrists. The sweater is knitted from the top down. At the beginning of the yoke, shoulder increases and short rows for the neckline are worked simultaneously. The front and back are then worked separately (stockinette stitch in rows). Under the armholes, the work is gathered onto one needle, and the rest of the body is worked on a circular needle. Around the armholes, stitches are picked up for the sleeves, which are then worked in rounds on a circular needle and finally on double-pointed needles (or using the Magic Loop method). Therefore, the sweater does not require any seaming, except for the ends at the end.

Size Guide

The balloon sweater should allow for freedom of movement ( positive ease). The size should be approximately 10-15 cm larger than your bust measurement. Sizes (S), M, and L fit a bust measurement of (85-90), 90-95, and (95-100) cm, respectively. The finished sweater measurements are shown on the front of the garment (note that these measurements are only valid if the gauge is maintained). Measure your bust (or the widest part of your body) before you begin knitting to determine the size that fits you best. For example, if your bust measurement is 94 cm, you should choose size M. A sweater in size M has a bust measurement of 110 cm and would therefore have 16 cm of positive ease .
