The knitting kit contains an alternative to the original yarn specified in the instructions.

CARLO hat is knitted in the style of an aviator hat with earflaps and a front brim. It keeps you wonderfully warm and is perfect for the whole family.

The hat is worked bottom-up in rib stitch. The earflaps and front brim are first knitted individually in rows and then joined together at the appropriate height. After that, work in rounds until the decreases. The decreases for the hat crown are knitted as left- and right-leaning decreases. Finally, the hat can be edged with an I-cord or a doubled, stockinette stitch brim. Both variations are described in the instructions. 

Sizes: Head circumference 51-53 cm (54-56) 57-59 (60-62) cm.

Gauge: Rib stitch in rows with 5.0 mm needles: 23 sts x 22-24 rows = 10 x 10 cm (measured washed, unstretched and flat). If necessary, choose a different needle size to match the gauge.

The instructions use the following techniques: Rib stitch, increases with left and right lean, decreases with left and right lean, I-Cord.

If you want to knit a larger size, you can order additional balls of yarn separately. You can then simply return any unused balls of yarn to us.

For this set, you will need the following accessories:
Circular knitting needle 5.0 mm (60 cm)
Double-pointed needles 5.0 mm (20 cm)
If working with the 'Magic Loop Method', you will need a long circular knitting needle 3.5 mm (80 - 100 cm)
Circular knitting needle 4.0 mm (60 - 80 cm) for the edging.
