The Esther Sweater is worked in a textured pattern from the top down. First, the upper part of the back is worked with increases. Then, stitches are picked up for the shoulders, which are then joined to form the front. The front and back are joined under the armholes to form the body, which is worked straight down. The sleeves are worked in the round on circular needles. A ribbed neckband is worked at the neck.

First knit a gauge swatch before you start the actual knitting, and measure it – remember that the gauge swatch must be correct in both height and width so that the measurements given on the cover page are accurate.

The Esther Sweater should have approximately 25 cm of positive ease in the smaller sizes and a progressively smaller amount in the larger sizes. Sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL (5XL) fit a chest circumference of 75-80 (80-85) 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm. The finished sweater measurements are shown on the cover. Take your own measurements before you begin knitting to determine the size that fits you best. If your chest circumference (or the widest part of your body) measures 90 cm, you should choose size S. A sweater in size S has a chest circumference of 114 cm and the freedom of movement (positive ease) is 24 cm in the example given.

Should you wish to knit in a larger size, you can order additional balls of yarn separately. You can then simply return the unused balls of yarn to us.

For this set you will need the following accessories:

• 3.5 mm circular knitting needles, 40, 60 and 80 or 100 cm long
• 4 mm circular knitting needles, 60 and 80 or 100 cm long
• 3.5 mm and 4 mm double-pointed needles
