The knitting kit includes a yarn alternative to the original yarn specified in the instructions, which has been approved by the designer .

Hector's balaclava is worked in garter stitch from front to back in rows. Short rows are used in two places – firstly, to shape the face opening, and secondly, to make the area around the neck narrower, which also gives the back of the balaclava its dwarf-like peak. The edges of the face opening and neck are then finished in a 2x2 rib pattern.

Fits a head circumference of approximately...	(43-45.5) 45.5-48.5 (48.5-51) 51-53 (53-54.5) cm
Suitable for an age of approximately:	(12 months) 24 months (3–4 years) 4–6 years (6–8 years)

Please be sure to measure the head circumference! The age ranges are based on standard sizes. If the head circumference falls between two sizes, the larger size is recommended.

Should you wish to knit in a larger size, you can order additional balls of yarn separately. You can then simply return the unused balls of yarn to us.

For this set you will need the following accessories:

3 mm or 4 mm knitting needles with an 80 cm cable
(The collar for the balaclava version is knitted using the magic loop technique. If you don't like this technique, you will also need a set of 3 mm double-pointed needles.)
a stitch marker that can be opened
Wool needle for sewing in threads
