The top is crocheted from bottom to top. The filet technique, using alternating chain and double crochet stitches, creates a mesh pattern with many "empty squares." For the design, specific squares are filled in. You can refer to the enclosed chart for this. Finally, the armholes or sleeves are attached with the upper back closure; this part is a bit tricky, but don't get discouraged. Lastly, you'll need to tie and sew on the buttons.
