The multicolored Holger Sweater is knitted in Peer Gynt by Sandnes Garn in the colors Almond (Fb 2511), Cacao nibs (Fb 3091), Pine (Fb 9581), Night sky (Fb 5591), Poppy (Fb 4008) and Perfect purple (Fb 5012).

The Holger Sweater is worked from the top down. While the body is knitted with stripes, the sleeves and neckband are worked in a single color. First, the upper part of the back is worked in rows, while the shoulders are shaped using short rows. The stripe pattern is worked simultaneously. Next, the shoulders are worked separately on a circular needle. These are then joined to form the front. The front and back are then joined to form the body, which is knitted in rounds with stripes on a circular needle. The sleeves are worked from picked-up stitches around the armholes. Finally, the neckband is knitted from picked-up stitches and folded in half.

The Holger Sweater should have approximately 20-25 cm of positive ease relative to the chest circumference. Sizes 1-2 (2-3), 3-4 (4-5), 5-6 (6-7), 7-8 (8-9), 9-10 (10-11), and 11-12 (12-14) years fit a chest circumference of 53 (54), 56 (57), 59 (62), 64 (68), 72 (75), and 78 (82) cm. The finished sweater measurements are shown on the front of the pattern (please note that these measurements are only valid if the gauge is correct). For example, if you/the recipient have a chest circumference of 62 cm, you should choose size 6-7 years. A sweater in size 6-7 years has a chest circumference of 86 cm and would therefore have 24 cm of positive ease. If the measured chest circumference differs from the age recommendation, you should adjust the length accordingly for the person you are knitting for. The same applies if the child is smaller/larger than average.

Should you wish to knit in a larger size, you can order additional balls of yarn separately. You can then simply return the unused balls of yarn to us.

For this set you will need the following accessories:

• 4 mm circular knitting needle, 60 or 80 cm
• 3.5 mm circular knitting needles, 40 and 60 and/or 80 cm
• 3.5 mm and 4 mm double-pointed needles (unless knitting with the Magic Loop method)
