BC Garn – Jaipur Peace Silk
Jaipur Peace Silk is a cruelty-free silk distinguished by a unique production process. Unlike traditional silk production, where silkworm cocoons are boiled along with the silkworms, the silk for Jaipur Peace Silk comes from the Eri silkworm. This worm frees itself from its cocoon before it is collected. This elaborate process is practiced on a silk farm in northeastern Thailand, where the raw silk originates.
Eri silk is not quite as smooth and lustrous as mulberry silk because it is not made from a continuous filament. Instead, it feels somewhat drier, similar to bourette silk, but more uniform. Furthermore, Eri silk offers even better climate-regulating properties than mulberry silk.

BC Garn focuses on GOTS-certified yarns. Currently, 15 BC Garn qualities are GOTS-certified, meaning they are verifiably produced according to strict animal welfare and environmental protection standards. The GOTS seal also stands for fair trade, as criteria such as fair wages, occupational safety, social responsibility, and anti-corruption guarantees are verified at all stages of production. Furthermore, BC Garn is working on yarn innovations produced with cruelty-free silk, where silkworms do not have to die during production.
