The Northland Sweater is knit from the top down, first in rows back and forth on circular needles to shape the neckline, then in rounds. The yoke is constructed so that the shoulder increases are worked first in rows back and forth. Next, the sleeve increases are worked, followed by classic raglan increases. The neckband is worked last by picking up stitches around the neck. The sleeves are worked in rounds either using the Magic Loop method or on double-pointed needles. Therefore, the Northland Sweater does not need to be sewn together.

Please knit a gauge swatch first to determine the correct needle size for you.

The Northland Sweater should have approximately 10 cm of positive ease relative to your chest measurement. Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL fit a chest measurement of 86-91 (91-96) 96-101 (101-107) 107-113 (113-119) 119-124 (124-132) 132-144 cm. The finished sweater measurements are shown on the front of this pattern. Take your own measurements before you begin knitting to determine the size that fits you best. For example, if your chest measurement (or the widest part of your body) is 106 cm, you should choose size L. A sweater in size L has a chest measurement of 116 cm and would therefore have 10 cm of positive ease.

Gauge: 17 stitches x 25 rows in stockinette stitch on 5 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm

Should you wish to knit in a larger size, you can order additional balls of yarn separately. You can then simply return the unused balls of yarn to us.

For this set you will need the following accessories:

Circular knitting needles 5 mm (60 and 80 and/or 100 cm), circular knitting needles 4.5 mm (80 or 100 cm), circular knitting needles 3.5 mm (40 cm), double-pointed needles 5 and 4.5 mm
