The Penny Tote Bag is knitted from the bottom up in a large seed stitch pattern. First, the base of the bag is worked. Then, stitches are picked up around the base edge to continue knitting the bag body in rounds.

Once the desired height is reached, the stitches are divided so that the handles are created individually in back-and-forth rows. When both handles are finished, they are joined using the three-needle technique. Finally, a lining is sewn into the inside of the bag.

The knitting kit includes an alternative to the original yarn specified in the instructions.

Gauge swatch: After washing and stretching:

16 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm in large seed stitch with 4 mm needles.

Should you wish to knit in a larger size,
You can order additional balls of yarn separately.
You can simply send the unused balls of yarn back to us.

For this set you will need the following accessories:

Circular knitting needles 4 mm, 60 and 80 or 100 cm.
