The Back2Summer Top by knitwear designer Anna Strickt is a final design of the OONIQUE Community Knitty Contest .
The top can be knitted in two variations:
Firstly, as a halter top, which is backless.
Or it can be knitted as a tank top to hide the bra straps.
The top is knitted with double yarn. Either with two of the same colors or two contrasting colors.
What's special about this top is that it wasn't designed according to standard sizes. You can adjust the top precisely to your own measurements using simple calculations and a gauge swatch.
Material:
Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (XXL) 3XL (4XL)
Underbust measurement: 60-70 (70-80) 80-90 (90-100) 100-110 (110-120)
Tynn Line by Sandnes: (4) 4 (4) 6 (6) 6 (8) 8 balls
Mandarin Petit by Sandnes: (6) 6 (8) 8 (10) 12 (14) 16 balls
The number is deliberately chosen to be even, since you can knit with two colors and two strands of yarn. A buffer is also included in case you want to knit the top longer than my example.
Needles:
4mm circular knitting needles for the body (cable length 60cm or longer if you are knitting a larger size)
3.5mm circular knitting needles for decorating the edges
Gauge swatch:
With 2 threads Sandness Tynn Line 10 x 10 cm:
21 m wide (that's the most important dimension)
31 stitches high, including one repetition of the lace pattern
With 2 threads Sandness Mandarin Petit 10 x 10 cm:
18 m wide
28 stitches high, including one repeat of the lace pattern.
